Collection | Moral Injuries

Moral Injuries is a body of work centered on the unseen psychological toll carried by soldiers, journalists, and humanitarian workers in recent conflicts. Often endured in isolation, these experiences reflect not only trauma, but a deeper crisis of conscience – what has been described as moral injury, when one’s sense of right and wrong is profoundly shaken.

Drawing from voices shaped by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the project creates a space for testimony and shared witnessing. Through immersive and visual forms, it invites the public to engage with stories that are often hidden – experiences that challenge our understanding of war and its human cost.

At its core, the work calls for collective acknowledgment: a public act of listening, reflection, and response. By bringing these stories into view, Jack Saul opens a space where individuals and communities can confront the moral complexities of war together, and begin a process of understanding and healing.
